There Has To Be An Easier Way: The Zach’s Bridge Resource Explorer

“There has to be an easier way.”

We’ve all said it. When you are navigating the unimaginable world of late-stage pediatric cancer or bereavement, the last thing you have is time. Yet, the search for support often feels like another full-time job.

There are hundreds of organizations out there ready to help with support, expenses, wishes, and experiences. But finding the right one? That’s where the system breaks down.

The Problem with “Alphabetical” Support

Most hospitals and nonprofits maintain resource lists, but all the ones we’ve seen have similar challenges.

  1. They aren’t specific: Very few focus 100% on late-stage care or bereavement.
  2. They are sorted by the alphabet: Just because an organization starts with the letter “A” doesn’t mean they are the most helpful or the most trusted. It just means they’re at the top of the page.
  3. You don’t know which ones are good: How do you know which ones fit your specific needs or are trusted

Social workers are overstretched. Links go dead. Parents are forced to scroll through endless pages of filters while facing the most challenging moments of their lives.

So many people told us not to build another resource list. But we realized we weren’t building a list—we were building a bridge.

Enter the Zach’s Bridge Resource Explorer

We like to solve the “hard problems” that others skip over. The Resource Explorer is designed specifically for parents, caregivers and professionals who need trusted answers, fast.

Think of it as Yelp for pediatric cancer resources. We’ve removed the clutter and kept it simple. We only ask two questions:

  1. What stage are you in?
  2. What type of resources do you need?

How We Curate (and Why You Can Trust It)

Alphabetical sorting isn’t very usful for a number of reasons – and we are biased, since Zach’s Bridge would always be at the bottom of the list.   Instead, the Resource Explorerreturns a curated list with the most trusted resources at the top. We score resources based on three criteria:

  • Personal Trust: Does a member of the Zach’s Bridge team know and vouch for the organization?
  • Clarity: Is their website easy to navigate? Can a tired, stressed parent (or a social worker) actually figure out how to get help?
  • Community Feedback: Do we know a family who has had a positive, meaningful experience with them?

If a resource is lower on the list, it doesn’t mean it’s “bad”—it just means we haven’t vetted it as deeply yet. Our goal is to ensure that the first link you click is the one most likely to help.

And, courtesy of a grant from y-Mabs Pharmaceuticals, now part of Serb, we expanded the Resource Explorer in late 2025 and early 2026.

Saving and Sharing Resources

  • Save it for later. You can now save your search results and individual resources to your profile for easy access later.
  • Sharing is easier. You can send resources directly via email with just a few clicks.
  • Easy account creation and login. To get started, simply enter your name and email address to create a profile. No password is required; the next time you visit the Resource Explorer, just click “Login” to receive a secure login link in your inbox.

Link Checking

A common issue with most other resource lists is that links often break or lead to outdated information. To solve this, the Resource Explorer features a built-in link checker. We run automated scans every month to quickly identify and update any broken links, ensuring you always have access to the help you need.

Book Suggestions via Artificial Intelligence

To simplify the search for grief and loss resources, we’ve unified listings from various pediatric cancer hospitals into one location and using AI to generate descriptions that are specific to your search term, so you can see how each book may be relevant to what you are looking for. You can search by role, stage, and specific topic areas to get a listing of helpful books. And just like the resources, you can save and share them.
